We Want to Hear from You!

Step up for the PTA!  Our May PTA meeting is when we elect next year's PTA Officers.  All positions are open and we encourage you to think seriously about becoming the next generation of PTA leaders.  PTA officer positions include President (up to 2), Vice President (up to 3), Treasurer, Asst. Treasurer, Fundraising (up to 2), Recording Secretary and two corresponding secretaries.

Three School Leadership Team (SLT) positions are also open and will be voted on in May as well.

After the break, the Science Center/Greenhouse Committee is hosting our Earth Day Celebration on April 26th and the Diversity Committee is hosting our first Kids Film Festival on May 16th.

A lot of exciting events are on the horizon as we enter the final stretch of the school year.

Enjoy the time off and we'll see everyone soon!

Eric and Eve

Greenhouse Update:  Spring is here! Our PS 199 Science Center was submitted for the SEEDS OF CHANGE Grant Challenge. Seeds of Change is awarding grants of $20,000 and $10,000 to the projects receiving the most votes. Voting begins April 1 and runs through April 21. Your DAILY votes count toward getting funding for the greenhouse!

Save this link to the Seeds of Change Gallery, type "PS 199", and vote every day starting April 1st for the PS 199 Science Center to help our project obtain a Seeds of Change Grant!

Saturday April 26th from 1- 4pm, the greenhouse committee will present this year’s PS 199 Earth Day event – Welcome to the “GREEN”house: A Celebration of Science and Sustainability!  There will be many interesting and exciting activities and events, including learning how to make a window farm (a vertical hydroponic garden), shopping at our farm stand, decorating a reusable bag (to keep!), and checking out WORM composting! If you are able to volunteer to work at all or part of the event, please email Karen Cape at

The PS199 PTA Diversity Committee invite 3rd to 5th graders to submit a three minute (or less) film clip (using ipads, smartphones, video cameras, etc.) for our first PS199 Kids Film Festival to be held on Fri, May 16th at 6:30pm. Click Here for “How to” tips and additional details.
