Community In Need

Community In Need is a committee whose purpose lies in helping one another however we can, whenever we can. The committee seeks to serve local needs as well as national and international. Any child, any teacher, any parent may suggest an endeavor.


The Coalition for the Homeless' 4th annual PROJECT: BACK TO SCHOOL
The Coalition for the Homeless' 4th annual PROJECT: BACK TO SCHOOL seeks to provide NYC's 16,000 homeless school-aged children with the basic tools needed for their academic success.   The PTA's Community in Need committee supports this drive and asks our 199 families if they can, to consider purchasing an extra school supply or two (pencils, pens, markers, composition notebooks, backpacks, etc.) for these vulnerable children.  Items should be new and unopened, please.   Collection boxes will be in the P.S. 199 lobby from September 8th - September 16th.   Please click here for the complete list of needed items.   And, as always, thank you for your generosity and your care.


Lets Say Thanks
The mission of Let's Say Thanks is to provide a way for families across the country to recognize U.S. troops stationed overseas by providing an opportunity to send a free personalized postcard greeting to deployed servicemen and women. The postcards, depicting patriotic scenes and hometown images, were selected from a pool of entries from children across the country. All you have to do is click on your favorite design and either select the message that best expresses your sentiment or draft a personal note. The postcards are then mailed in care packages by Xerox and Give2TheTroops®.This program is aimed at reminding the troops how much Americans appreciate their service.
