Kindness is .....
In the Fall of 2011, the PS 199 Diversity Committee, inspired by the school motto "Work Hard, Be Kind", sent out a flyer in kid mail requesting our children’s thoughts on kindness. A staggering 300+ responses from kindergarteners all the way through to 5th graders were compiled and lovingly assembled into 69 gorgeous pages, filled with observations, stories and drawings that, this Valentine's Day, you can share online!
Please click here to experience the innocence, the insightful and often hilarious impressions of kindness through our children’s eyes.
Happy Valentine's Day, from the PS 199 Diversity Committee
We did it!! Thanks to all of you, on October 12, 2011, PS199 students, teachers and staff, participating with others around the country, beat the world record for the most people to do jumping jacks in a single day. Because of your hard work, the old record of 20,425 jumpers was smashed to smithereens!! The new record is an amazing fifteen times that number - a fantastic 300,265 jumpers. This new number will be recorded in the
Guinness Book of World Records! Congratulations to all of you! Please

PS 199 Family Giving Whether your children are just entering PS 199 or are in their final year, there is no question that our principal, Katy Rosen -- and all of the teachers on her team -- have vision for what a gold standard public school education should be. As best said by third grade teacher, Chris Miller, “By supporting our school, parents have helped create an optimal and nurturing learning environment where the children truly flourish. Please give generously to continue this tradition. Click
